Multimallet

Multimallet is a term used in percussion practice to describe a modular mallet system designed to extend a single performer’s striking options by incorporating multiple mallets on one setup. The concept enables simultaneous or rapid sequential strikes on different surfaces or keyboard percussion instruments, such as marimba, vibraphone, or xylophone, without requiring a hand to swap sticks.

Designs vary, but most multimallets feature a single primary grip or handle with two or more mallet tips mounted in close proximity. Variants include fixed configurations in which the tips are arranged around the handle, and hinged or detachable arrangements that allow reconfiguration between pieces or performances.
