LiègeBastogneLiège
Liège–Bastogne–Liège is a professional one-day road cycling race held annually in Belgium. Known as La Doyenne (the Old Lady), it is one of the five Monuments of cycling and a key event on the UCI World Tour. First run in 1892, it is the oldest of cycling's Monuments. Usually staged in late April, the race covers roughly 250 kilometers, starting in Liège, passing through the Ardennes to Bastogne, and returning to finish in Liège. Riders face numerous short, steep climbs in the Ardennes, including the Côte de la Redoute and the Roche-aux-Faucons as decisive points late in the race. Several of the sport's greats have claimed the title; the record for most wins belongs to Eddy Merckx with five victories. Liège–Bastogne–Liège also features a women's edition, Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes, introduced in 2017 as part of the UCI Women's World Tour, with a shorter distance but the same Ardennes terrain. The race is a defining event of the Ardennes Classics and is noted for its demanding course and tactical racing, often shaping the spring season.
