In German-speaking business practice the term is closely related to service offering, service description, and tender documents. An offered Leistungsangebot is usually part of a bid or proposal that accompanies technical and commercial parts and is evaluated against tender requirements.

Content and structure: A Leistungsangebot generally includes a description of the services, the defined scope (what is included and what is excluded), service levels and performance criteria, deliverables and milestones, interfaces and responsibilities, and prerequisites or dependencies. It also covers the commercial terms: pricing, payment schedule, validity period, delivery terms, warranties, liability, data protection, and contractual terms. When relevant, implementation plan, risk assessment, and references or case studies are included.

Relation to other terms: The Leistungsangebot is distinct from the Leistungsbeschreibung (detailed service description) and from the Leistungsumfang (scope) as a boundary of the contract. The offer may become binding upon acceptance by the customer or the signing of a contract.
