Lebensmittelinformationsverordnung (LMIV; Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011) is the framework for labeling and information about foods sold to consumers in the European Union. It standardizes what information must appear on pre-packaged foods and how it should be presented. The regulation covers packaged foods across member states and applies to most foods intended for consumers, with specific exemptions for certain products and activities, such as some foods sold without packaging or sold directly to consumers by the producer.

identification

support
traceability
and
recalls.
The
LMIV
is
intended
to
improve
consumer
knowledge,
support
safe
handling,
and
promote
a
single,
harmonized

EU,
while
national
authorities
oversee
compliance
and
enforcement.
