Lämpövälitys, also known as thermal conduction, is the transfer of heat through direct contact of particles. When a hotter object touches a colder object, the particles in the hotter object have more kinetic energy and vibrate more intensely. These vibrations are passed on to the particles in the colder object through collisions, thus transferring thermal energy. This process occurs in solids, liquids, and gases, though it is most efficient in solids where particles are tightly packed.
