Käsivarteen

Käsivarsi is a wilderness area located in the northwesternmost part of Finland, in the municipality of Enontekiö. It is known for its vast, undeveloped natural landscapes and is part of the larger Käsivarren erämaa-alue, a protected wilderness reserve. The area is characterized by its rugged fells, sparsely vegetated slopes, and numerous lakes and rivers. Käsivarsi is a popular destination for hiking, trekking, and other outdoor activities, particularly during the summer months. The Kungsleden, a long-distance hiking trail originating in Sweden, extends into Käsivarsi, attracting international visitors.

The region is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including reindeer, which are a common sight. The Sami people have traditionally inhabited this area, and their cultural heritage is still present. Käsivarsi's remoteness and wild character make it an important area for conservation efforts, protecting its natural state for future generations. Access to Käsivarsi is primarily through small villages on the periphery, such as Kilpisjärvi, which serves as a common starting point for expeditions into the wilderness. The terrain can be challenging, requiring good preparation and experience for those venturing into its depths.
