INCF

INCF, the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility, is an international, non-profit organization that coordinates neuroinformatics research and data sharing across national and institutional boundaries. Its core aim is to advance open science in neuroscience by fostering the development and adoption of interoperable standards, software tools, and data resources that enable researchers to access, compare, and reuse datasets and models.

INCF operates a network of national and regional nodes and collaborates with universities, research institutes, funding agencies, and partner organizations. The organization supports community-driven standards development, promotes best practices for data management, and funds training, workshops, and collaborative projects. It also supports infrastructure efforts such as open data repositories and software ecosystems that enable reproducible neuroscience research.

Governance is provided by a Council representing member countries and institutions, along with a Secretariat that coordinates programs and activities. INCF’s work is carried out through programs in areas such as data standards and interoperability, software and tools, training and capacity building, and collaborative research initiatives. The organization relies on funding from participating governments and partner organizations as well as contributions from the neuroscience and informatics communities.

Through its activities, INCF aims to accelerate neuroscience discovery by enabling data sharing, promoting reproducibility, and lowering barriers to collaboration across disciplines and borders. It serves as a hub for researchers worldwide, aligning efforts to create a more integrated and accessible neuroinformatics ecosystem.
