Graceland

Graceland is a mansion and estate in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, best known as the home of American singer and actor Elvis Presley. The house sits on a hillside in the Graceland neighborhood and has become an enduring symbol of Elvis’s life and popular music.

Elvis Presley and his family moved into Graceland in 1957. Over the following years the residence became central to his personal life and professional career. Elvis Presley died there in 1977.

After his death, Graceland was opened to the public as a house museum in 1982. The estate has since grown into a broader museum complex and is owned and operated by Graceland Holdings under Elvis Presley Enterprises. The property has been designated a National Historic Landmark.

Today, visitors can tour the mansion, view exhibits related to Elvis’s career, and explore the site’s other attractions, including a car and memorabilia collection and the Meditation Garden, where Elvis Presley and other family members are buried. The on-site grounds include dining and retail facilities as part of the visitor experience.

Graceland remains a major tourist destination in Memphis and one of the most-visited private homes in the United States, drawing fans, researchers, and visitors interested in Elvis’s life and the history of rock and roll. Annual events such as Elvis Week celebrate his legacy.
