The C-5M Super Galaxy is a heavily modernized variant of the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy strategic military transport, operated by the United States Air Force. The program was designed to extend the life of the airframe, improve reliability, and enhance overall mission capability for long-range, heavy-lift operations.

Core improvements focus on propulsion and avionics. The C-5M is powered by General Electric CF6-80C2 high-bypass turbofan engines, replacing the older TF39 powerplants to deliver greater thrust and better fuel efficiency. The aircraft also features a modernized cockpit and digital avionics suite, including an upgraded flight deck, improved navigation and communications, and enhanced mission systems to reduce crew workload and improve situational awareness.

Structural and maintenance enhancements are part of the modernization.
