Bardot

Bardot is a French surname. It is most famously associated with Brigitte Bardot (born 1934), a French actress, singer and animal-rights activist who has been read as one of the best-known sex symbols in the 1950s and 1960s. Bardot's breakout came with the 1956 film And God Created Woman, directed by Roger Vadim, which established her as an international star. Her other notable films include Contempt (1963) and Viva Maria! (1965). She retired from acting in 1973 and later devoted herself to animal welfare; in 1986 she established the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals, and the Foundation continues to fund animal-rights initiatives.

The surname Bardot is of French origin and also appears in other Francophone communities. Beyond Brigitte Bardot,
