Balatonfüred

Balatonfüred is a town in Veszprém County, Hungary, located on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. It is one of the region’s oldest and most popular spa and resort towns, renowned for its lakeside promenade, historic hotels, and maritime atmosphere. The surrounding area forms part of the Balaton-felvidéki landscape, and the town serves as a hub for sailing, boating, and seasonal tourism.

Historically, Balatonfüred developed as a spa destination in the 18th and 19th centuries, when bathhouses and sanatoriums were established and grand hotels were built along the shore. Notable landmarks include the Anna Grand Hotel, the Jókai Memorial House museum, and the Tagore Promenade, which runs along the quay. The promenade commemorates the visit of Rabindranath Tagore in the 1920s and features a statue and commemorative elements.

The town is also significant in the regional wine industry.
